Culturally Connected Care
Your family's values, traditions, and beliefs are at the heart of everything we do; honored and woven into every aspect of your care.
Honoring Every Journey with Compassion and Respect
For nearly 120 years, care has been provided with deep respect for the whole person — recognizing that religious values, beliefs, traditions, military experiences, and personal preferences all shape what comfort and dignity mean at the end of life. Our hospice and palliative care services are built around understanding these experiences, helping families have honest conversations, and ensuring every person receives care that truly fits who they are.
Every family that comes to us carries their own story — their own customs, their own way of understanding illness, their own sense of what ‘a good death’ looks like. Our care team is trained to listen before they act, and to follow your lead on what matters most.
Whether your family’s needs are rooted in religious tradition, cultural background, personal values, or lived experience, you will be treated with the same compassion, dignity, and respect.
Honoring Those Who Served
Care Rooted in Jewish Traditions and Values
MJHS has deep roots in the Jewish community and a long history of caring for Jewish patients in accordance with their religious, spiritual, and cultural beliefs. Key components of our program include:
- Halachic Pathway — Ensures observant Jewish patients and their families can involve their rabbi or rabbinic advisor in the medical decision-making process. Knowing that hospice care can align with Jewish law provides peace of mind during one of life’s most significant moments.
- Holocaust Survivor Care — Offers gentle, trauma-informed care delivered by staff who are sensitive to the experiences of Survivors, with an understanding of how those experiences may shape their needs at the end of life.
We also assist with funeral planning and coordination with the Chevra Kadisha to ensure burial within 24 hours when requested.
Guiding Families Through Difficult Decisions
Cultural customs and traditions can sometimes lead to differing perspectives within families. If you and your loved ones face challenges agreeing on a plan of care, or if beliefs within your family differ, our Ethics Review Committee is available to facilitate thoughtful, respectful conversations — helping guide you toward a resolution that honors everyone’s values and wishes.
We’re Here to Help You Take the Next Step
Care that truly fits your family — your faith, your traditions, your values — is not an add-on. It is the foundation of everything we do.

Meeting Veterans Special Needs at the End of Life
Veterans deserve end-of-life support from a care team that knows how to support, uplift, and addresses their unique and unspoken needs. Unfortunately, the strength that served them so well when on active duty often prevents veterans from asking for help. Learn about how MJHS Hospice goes the extra mile for veterans in our program.
